# Guide

This page has an essential guide on collection sort app.

#### 👩🏻‍🏫 Introduction:

Managing and sorting collections effectively can be a significant challenge for store owners, especially when dealing with large inventories and the need to prioritize in-stock products. Ensuring that customers see the most relevant and available products first is crucial for enhancing their shopping experience and maximizing sales opportunities. The "Jedi Product & Collection Sort" app is designed to address these challenges by offering advanced sorting features that prioritize available products, push down sold-out items, and allow for customizable sorting strategies.

#### 📝 Key Features of the Jedi Product & Collection Sort App:

* **Layer-Wise Sorting:** Organizes products in layers, sorting them based on user-defined criteria such as "Best selling," "Highest Inventory," or "Highest Profit."
* **Customizable Sorting:** Users can set up sorting strategies at the global level or per individual collection, giving flexibility in how products are displayed.
* **AI-Powered Multi-Parameter Sorting:** This feature utilizes AI to sort products based on multiple parameters, with customizable weights for each parameter to prioritize what's most important to your business.
* **Real-Time and Scheduled Sorting:** This option offers both real-time sorting via the "Sort Now" button and scheduled sorting at set intervals (hourly, daily, weekly).
* **Performance Optimization:** Ensures fast loading times and a smooth user experience, even when dealing with large collections.

#### 🧗‍♀️ Steps for Configuring the App:

**STEP 1️⃣ --> Enable Sorting Feature for the Collection**

* Navigate to the collection you want to sort and click the toggle button to enable the sorting feature.
* A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click 'Enable' to activate sorting for the collection.

**STEP 2️⃣ --> Sort Settings for the Collection**

* After enabling the sorting feature, click on 'Edit Settings' for the collection.
* Choose your desired sorting order from the dropdown menu. Options include "Best selling," "Highest Inventory," "Highest Profit," and more.
* Arrange the sorting layers using drag and drop, ensuring that out-of-stock products are placed at the bottom to push them down in the collection.
* Set the sorting frequency (hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly) to automate sorting at regular intervals.
* Click the 'Save' button to apply and save your settings.

**STEP 3️⃣ --> Click the 'Sort Now' Button to Sort the Collection**

* Before applying the sorting preferences, the products in the collection may be arranged randomly or with sold-out items at the top.
* Click the 'Sort Now' button to instantly organize products into layers according to your user-defined sort order.
* Once sorted, the products will be displayed in the configured layers, with sold-out items automatically pushed to the bottom of the collection.

#### 👩‍💻 Additional App Features:

**Adding Custom Layers in the Sorting Layers**

* The app allows you to create custom sorting layers based on specific criteria, such as product tags.
* Click 'Add Another Layer' in the sorting settings, select 'Tagged products,' and choose the relevant tags.
* You can add multiple tags at once or create separate layers for each tag.
* Arrange these custom layers as needed and save the settings to apply them to your collection.

#### ✍️ Example:

Let’s say you have a collection named "Shirt" with various products, and you want to prioritize items tagged as "Top Brand." By adding a custom layer for these tagged products and placing it at the top of the sorting layers, the app will ensure that "Top Brand" items appear first in the collection. After applying the sorting, the products will be organized according to your defined rules, providing a tailored shopping experience for your customers.

The Jedi Product & Collection Sort app is a powerful tool for optimizing how products are displayed in your store, improving customer satisfaction, and boosting sales by making sure the right products are seen first.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Which modifications does Jedi - Product &#x26; Collection Sort make?</summary>

When a collection is enabled in the app, its sorting order is automatically switched to **‘manual’**. After you run the sort, the app pulls in your store’s sales and product data to arrange items according to the sorting strategy you’ve set for that collection.

If you ever want to return to Shopify’s default sorting, simply **disable** the collection from the app’s main page. Then head to your Shopify admin and choose your preferred sort order as you normally would.

Please note: the app does **not** modify your theme, add code, or inject any JavaScript into your storefront.

</details>

<details>

<summary>I can't see the catalogue page (Collections/All page) in the app?</summary>

The catalogue page is a *virtual page* generated directly by Shopify. As a result, our app is unable to access or modify this specific page. The URL for this page generally appears as follows:\
**<https://shopify-store-name/collections/all>**

To make your catalogue page visible within our app, please refer to Shopify’s official guidance on how to customize or replace this page.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

No, the Jedi - Product & Collection Sort app does not add or remove products from collections. It only sorts the products already in a collection based on rules you set.

</details>

***

## <mark style="color:blue;">Sorting Strategy</mark>

<details>

<summary>What is a Sorting Strategy?</summary>

In the app, you can create your own sorting strategy by setting up custom sorting rules. These strategies can be effortlessly applied to any collection across your store that is enabled in the app, automatically sorting the collection based on the rules defined in the strategy.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is Vendor Spread Randomization?</summary>

Vendor Spread Randomization is a feature that ensures products from different vendors are evenly distributed in a collection. This prevents one vendor’s products from dominating the top positions, giving all vendors fair visibility.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is Product Type Spread Randomization?</summary>

**Product Type Spread Randomization** is a feature that distributes different product types evenly across a collection, ensuring similar items are not clustered together and the product layout appears balanced and visually organized.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is "Variant availability ratio" ?</summary>

The variant availability ratio of a product is a metric that tells what percentage of a product's variants are currently in stock and available for purchase. \
E.g. if 6 out of 10 variants of a product are in stock, the variant availability ratio for the product would be (6/10) x100 = 60%.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is "Weight" in AI sort (Multi Params) sort order?</summary>

Higher the weight for a property means that the property will have more weightage when calculating the rank for a product. So, you may want to put more weight to a property which you think has more significance compared to the other properties.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is "Sorting by Product Sub-grouping"?</summary>

Sorting by product sub-grouping means your products are still arranged using the main sorting rule, but they’re also divided into small, balanced groups so the collection looks cleaner and easier to browse.&#x20;

For example, if your sort order is “**Inventory: High to Low**,” all items will first be sorted by stock levels. When you turn on sub-grouping—like grouping by **vendor**—the system stops products from the same vendor from filling up the top of the list. Instead, it spreads them out more evenly, showing only a set number of products from each vendor (such as two per group) so the collection feels organized and not cluttered.

<figure><img src="/files/6vipnoivDi5LOn7qYd1A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

</details>

<details>

<summary>How to apply multiple sorting strategies to a single collection?</summary>

To apply multiple sorting strategies to a single collection, follow the steps below:<br>

1. Select the collection to which you want to apply multiple sorting strategies.
2. Enable the '**Use Multiple Strategies**' checkbox. The currently active strategy will be displayed as active.
3. Click on **Add Another Strategy** and configure the additional strategies you want to apply.
4. Click **Save** to apply and activate multiple strategies for the selected collection.

Please note that, when multiple strategies are enabled, only **one strategy is active at a time**. The app automatically switches to the next strategy using a **round-robin method**, ensuring each strategy runs evenly and helping you compare performance across strategies.

You can choose which strategy is active at any time by clicking on the **Sorting Strategy** dropdown and selecting the desired strategy. The selected strategy will be applied immediately to the collection.<br>
